Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International take Choiceair to next level with new specials

Miami - (December 15, 2009 ) - ChoiceAir, the innovative air travel program that Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International launched earlier this year, is now set to provide even more benefits to cruisers, with yesterday's introduction of "ChoiceAir Specials."

Since August, the three cruise lines' travel agent partners and guests have had access to highly competitive airfares, along with full control of their air arrangements through ChoiceAir. Beginning today, with the launch of ChoiceAir Specials, the three cruise lines are offering even more value on certain sailings when accompanied with ChoiceAir arrangements. "ChoiceAir Specials provide dollars-off savings that make our cruise vacations an even more compelling value," said Doug Santoni, senior vice president of Revenue Management, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. "Cruisers appreciate that ChoiceAir provides value and choice, but many don't realize that ChoiceAir also includes a bonus in the form of travel support before, during and after their trip. It's more than just helping our guests find great flights at great prices and choose the flight options that work best for them. ChoiceAir guests have peace of mind, knowing that the ChoiceAir team is watching out for them on the way to and from their cruise vacation, offering support in the event of disruptions to airline schedules that might otherwise jeopardize their cruise vacation."

When guests book ChoiceAir with their cruise, they can be more confident in their vacation decision and the value they are receiving, and this should result in fewer guest cancellations and changes. This translates into the ultimate in value and selection for guests, while helping travel agents to secure more business. With the addition of ChoiceAir Specials, travel partners now have another tool to assist in making the sale, upgrading the sale, and reaching out to new clients.

ChoiceAir provides the three cruise lines' guests with the ability to select flights from all published airline schedules, taking advantage of some of the most competitive fares, as well as exclusive promotions available only through Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Royal Caribbean International and their travel agent partners. Additionally, ChoiceAir offers the convenience of single-phone-call service and day-of-travel support in the event of airline schedule disruptions. ChoiceAir Specials provide an additional discount off the price of the cruise vacation on certain sailings when accompanied with air purchased through the three cruise lines' ChoiceAir program.

Guests can purchase ChoiceAir Specials through a travel agent, directly from Azamara Club Cruises, Celebrity Cruises and Royal Caribbean International contact centers, and online at each of the cruise lines' secure ChoiceAir websites:

  • Azamara Club Cruises: www.azamaraclubcruises.com/choiceair
  • Celebrity Cruises: www.celebritycruises.com/choiceair
  • Royal Caribbean International: www.royalcaribbean.com/choiceair

Nine-time world surfing champion's feature film premieres in February.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (Dec. 15, 2009)---Nine-time world surfing champion Kelly Slater comes to IMAX and other Giant Screen theaters in early February with the premiere of The Ultimate Wave Tahiti, shown in both 3D and 2D formats. For those hoping to get an early look at the action and Tahiti's beauty in director Stephen Low's film, the distributor has launched a new website, www.ultimatewavetahiti.com, as well as releasing the trailer and poster art for the upcoming feature.

According to Mark Kresser of K2 Communications, Inc., the Website includes an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the two-year production and provides an insight to the many challenges faced by the crew. It also paints a personal picture of the relationship that developed between Slater and his Tahitian surfing partner, Raimana Van Bastolaer, as they tackled Teahupo'o, considered one of the most difficult waves in the world.

"So much of the film is a human interest story as the local Tahitian community plays host to Kelly's quest for the perfect wave," said Kresser.

He said the trailer for The Ultimate Wave Tahiti, available on the website and soon debuting in selected Giant Screen theaters, will provide a glimpse of both the surf action and familiarity between the surfers that is integral to the film's storyline.

The poster art for The Ultimate Wave Tahiti is also being released in conjunction with the Website and trailer. Phil Roberts, well-known surf lifestyle artist, was commissioned to produce a unique look for the film, concentrating on both the Slater persona and the famed Tahitian wave.

Kresser said "the Roberts art treatment provides a blend of strong graphics and striking colors that do justice to the spectacular Tahitian scenery and the majesty of Teahupo'o."

At the core of the film is wave-formation science that helps the viewer understand the genesis and growth of waves like Teahupo'o that deliver the highest energy density of any renewable resource. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) provided scientific consultation for the film and will be creating film-related outreach activities to communicate messages related to the care and protection of the world's oceans.

The Ultimate Wave Tahiti, which will premiere Feb. 8, 2010 at the Los Angeles Science Center IMAX Theater, is produced by The Stephen Low Company in association with K2 Communications and havoc Television. Underwriting and marketing for the film was provided by Suzuki, Tahiti Tourisme, and Quiksilver.

Cunard Line Receives Triple Honours in Porthole Cruise Magazine's 11th Annual Readers' Choice Awards

"World Cruise Itineraries" receive highest accolade for seventh consecutive year

15 December 2009 - Cunard Line, operator of the most famous ocean liners in the world, has once again been recognized by Porthole Cruise magazine's seasoned cruise travellers for offering the "Best World Cruise Itineraries," "Best Transatlantic Itineraries" and "Best Onboard Educational Programmes" - areas that the iconic British liner company has been known for throughout its modern history. The 11th Annual Readers' Choice Awards survey can be found online at www.porthole.com, as well as in the December issue.

"Cunard is known around the world for our famed World Voyages, our legendary Transatlantic Crossings and our wide variety of enlightening onboard programmes, such as Literature and Liners," said Peter Shanks, president of Cunard Line. "It is very gratifying to see our loyal guests and respected industry colleagues from Porthole Cruise magazine recognize us again with such esteemed honours."

"Cunard is one of the most appealing lines out there, providing superior voyages for experienced travellers," said Bill Panoff, publisher and editor-in-chief of Porthole Cruise, the leading consumer cruise magazine. "From exceptional onboard programmes to world-class itineraries, our readers clearly recognize that."

In 2010, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Victoria will depart on their third World Voyages, continuing the line's rich tradition of offering the most spectacular and historic world-class journeys. Queen Mary 2 will set sail on a completely new Eastbound-Westbound route on a unique itinerary of 101 days featuring 19 maiden calls, three overnight stays (in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Cape Town) and her inaugural visit to South Africa. Queen Victoria's 99-day circumnavigation will include 12 maiden ports of call - including her first visit to San Francisco - plus three overnights (in Sydney, Hong Kong and Dubai) and three convenient U.S. embarkation gateways in New York, Ft. Lauderdale and San Francisco.

Kicking off their World Voyages in 2011, Queen Mary 2 and Queen Elizabeth will sail a rare twin Transatlantic Crossing from Southampton to New York, departing 6 January. On 13 January, Cunard will celebrate another historic Royal Rendezvous of its three Queens in New York - Queen Mary 2, Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth.

The Transatlantic Crossing remains Cunard's signature voyage. Cunard was the first to offer scheduled travel between the UK and the US in 1840, and it has been a tradition ever since. Now, Cunard is the only major line with a scheduled Transatlantic service, and what better way to undertake this storied voyage than on its magnificent flagship, Queen Mary 2. 2010 marks her sixth Transatlantic season, offering the choice of 6-, 7-, 8- or 9-day Crossings between New York and Southampton, England; Hamburg, Germany; or Cherbourg, France.

Delving deeply into a variety of compelling and relevant topics, Cunard Insights introduces guests to stimulating experts and accomplished visionaries who reflect the line's heritage of adventure and prestige. Through a series of lectures, Q&A's, social gatherings and workshops, including Literature and Liners, guests connect with authors and intellectuals who have achieved notable distinction in areas including history, world affairs, science, politics, arts and literature. The Insights programme underscores Cunard's longstanding view that onboard entertainment should afford guests a provocative and rewarding cerebral experience.

Published bimonthly by Time Warner, Porthole Cruise magazine is a respected travel publication geared to cruise and destination travelers worldwide.

Azamara Cruises Becomes "Azamara Club Cruises" Newly refined brand unveils multiple new attributes for upmarket travelers

Miami - (December 08, 2009 ) - Azamara Cruises - the two-ship brand launched in 2007 with the 694-guest Azamara Journey and sister ship Azamara Quest - today became "Azamara Club Cruises," with a newly refined focus, and a series of new attributes designed for upmarket, experienced travelers.

"This isn't a strategy of going 'from good to great'," said Azamara Club Cruises President & CEO Larry Pimentel. "This is about taking an already great product and making it exceptional."

Tapped to take the helm of Azamara Cruises in July of this year, Pimentel spent several weeks talking with travel agents, past guests and press to determine how to make his great-to-exceptional goal a reality. He also tapped a small new team focused 100 percent on Azamara, including VP of Sales & Marketing Edie Bornstein, AVP of Hotel Operations Bert Van Middendorp, Director of Marketing Signe Bjorndal, Director of National Accounts Michelle Nevin, and an eight-member field sales team dedicated solely to Azamara.

Together, Pimentel and team shaped the new Azamara Club Cruises, whose most distinguishing new attributes will be in effect by April 2010.

"Today's cruisers have incredible new vacation options - like Celebrity's stunning Solstice Class, and Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas," said Pimentel. "Azamara Club Cruises will distinguish itself by delivering the destination like no other line."

Azamara Club Cruises will visit 140 ports in 50 countries in 2010, with itineraries featuring more overnight stays to allow guests to immerse themselves in communities and cultures. Among the overnight locations are Istanbul, Turkey; Sorrento, Italy, which offers a host of tour options along the Amalfi Coast and Capri; a full three days and two nights in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Azamara's Scandinavia and Russia itineraries; and multiple overnight stays in Azamara's Southeast Asia region, including Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok, Singapore and Hong Kong.

"We're going to slow down the tempo, and allow our guests to not just see the destination, but to live it," said Pimentel. "Consider destinations like St. Tropez or St. Petersburg, Russia. If you've experienced them only by day, you haven't really experienced them. With Azamara, through more overnight stays and late-night stays, you can."

The destination focus of Azamara Club Cruises inspired the brand's new tagline - "You'll love where we take you" - and will extend to its shore excursions, too, an essential ingredient to allow guests to truly experience a community and its culture. Azamara has created distinctive two-day packages tailored to the overnight destinations, to make it easy for guests to immerse themselves in each location, whether it's Dubrovnik, Croatia; Odessa, Ukraine; Livorno (Florence), Italy, Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany, or London, in addition to Sorrento and St. Petersburg.

Azamara also will offer experiences such as a two-night package from Bangkok to Laos; an overnight tour from Hiroshima to Osaka via bullet train; a three-night experience from Mumbai including a visit to the Taj Mahal; overnight tours in Israel between Ashdod and Cairo, and a Grand Egypt tour featuring the best of both Luxor and Cairo.

Among Azamara's specialty tours include a Ferrari driving tour in Civitavecchia, Italy; a walk down memory lane in Liverpool with the "In the steps of The Beatles" tour; a private demonstration of chocolate flavors in Dubrovnik; a "Theatre A La Carte" evening in London; Croatian liqueur tasting in Zadar; an Imperial Russian Court evening at Tsarskoye Selo in St. Petersburg; an evening gondola serenade in Venice; and high tea at the Burj al Arab Hotel in Dubai.

Praised for its dining experience since its founding, Azamara will continue to place a heavy emphasis on fine cuisine, and will expand its focus on wine to include vintages from boutique wineries around the world. Guests will have the opportunity to taste high quality wines that may be unavailable at home, because the selected vineyards produce a strictly limited quantity each year, distributed primarily locally. The featured wines will be offered complimentary at lunches and dinners on every sailing.

Wellness and vigor will be a core component of the Azamara Club Cruises experience, too, with onboard and land-based experiences designed to help guests feel and look healthier and more youthful. Azamara's aim in wellness and vigor is to help guests balance their physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual needs through massages, facials and other spa treatments, as well as acupuncture, yoga, Pilates, and enrichment programs.

The newly refined brand also is intensely focused on offering an intangible attribute essential to a successful upmarket product: exceptional service.

"Extraordinary service is paramount with Azamara Club Cruises," said Pimentel. "We know every travel and hospitality organization proclaims it's committed to great service, so what will make Azamara stand out? First, our butlers will be trained to be true English butlers, to offer that fine balance of anticipatory, pampering, yet non-intrusive service to guests in every suite." Guests in staterooms will be served by the line's host of experienced stateroom attendants.

Azamara Club Cruises also will offer many inclusive amenities, with the following included in the cruise fare beginning with the first voyages in April 2010 on Azamara Journey and Azamara Quest: a specific brand of bottled water offered at no charge throughout the voyage, whether in public venues or in staterooms; specialty coffees and teas; housekeeping and dining gratuities; shuttlebus service to/from port communities, where available; destination-influenced entertainment and enrichment programs; most meals and room service; house wine at lunches and dinners; and self-service laundry. Specialty dining in Azamara's intimate Prime C steakhouse and the Mediterranean-influenced Aqualina will be complimentary for suite guests for the duration of their cruise. Cruisers who can't get enough of Azamara will be invited to join the line's new loyalty program, "Le Club Voyage," with specific features and benefits yet to be announced.

Celebrity Cruises Offers Caribbean Cruises Year-Round

Traveling in the summer every year is a busy time to get away becuase children, and some adults, are out of school. Celebrity Cruises has just announced that they want to make it easier for you to cruise with them. In addition, to offering Alaska Cruises from Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC they will now offer Caribbean Cruises from Fort Lauderdale, FL. A third home-port for you to drive to or fly to easily!

Now this summer Caribbean cruise is not on just another cruise ship. It's onboard the Celebrity Solstice. This brand new ship came into service last December and has wowed everyone that's stepped aboard. Celebrity Solstice is the largest and most innovative vessel ever to sail for Celebrity Cruises. There are a wealth of dining, spa and entertainment options for guests.

I had the pleasure of cruising on this ship last December to the Eastern Caribbean. There are so many fabulous things I can say about this ship. I loved the modern decor, the lawn club (which is a grass area on top of the ship aft offering lawn bowling), and the AquaSpa is the largest I've seen on any ship . . . with many treatment rooms, the persian gardens (sauna/steam area with heated tile lounge chairs), huge fitness center with many machines and much more!

The entertainment is superb. I liked the late-nite comedy at Celebrity Central. This area feels like a cute comedy club at home. You must see the formal evening shows at the Solstice Theater. It is amazing - singers, dancers, acrobats and more! And they are not just on the stage in front of you, but hanging from the ceiling too.

My favourite part of this ship was the food. I know, I know it's all about the food when you cruise. The two best restaurants onboard, in my opinion, are:

Murano - Celebrity's signature specialty restaurant. It offers excellent service with a large menu of items to choose from (classic & modern continental cuisines). I had to dine here 3 times during my 7 night cruise because I wanted to try so many things. Plus, they have a wine pairing menu at an excellent price. (Cover Charge of $30 US per person)

Bistro On Five - This may surprise you. Many guests onboard the ship didn't even try this restaurant, but it is a must! This restaurant offers crepes, paninis and desserts. If you sleep in late one morning go here for one of many egg crepes or has a causal lunch or dinner with their amazing paninis. Again, I had to visit this restaurant 3 times during my cruise because it was soooo good! It's right across from the Cova Cafe on Deck 5 . . . don't miss it. (Cover Charge of $5 US per person)

There are many other options for your palate. The maing dining room offers 2 meals a day. The Silk Harvest Restaurant offers asian cuisine; yes the sushi is good here! Tuscan Grille offers Italian cuisine and of course the Oceanview Cafe offers buffet-style food 24-hours a day.

Would you like a glass of wine? If you're like me and tired of house wine take a look at the cellar masters. It offers a good selection of wines by the bottle and there's also an area where you can purchase high-end wines by glass.

Or how about a martini? The Martini Bar on Entertainment Deck 5 has a cool vibe with a large selection of Martini's to choose from.
