NCL's Norwegian Dawn to Be Featured On HBO's All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise

MIAMI - (March 22, 2006) - On April 6, 2006, Home Box Office (HBO) will present All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise, a documentary feature film chronicling Rosie and Kelli's first-ever cruise for gay and lesbian families on board Norwegian Cruise Line's (NCL) Norwegian Dawn. The documentary, which was shot on the 2004 maiden voyage of R Family Vacations by award-winning filmmaker & Emmy(r) nominee, Shari Cookson, features a glimpse of society shaped by a truly diverse, inclusive network of families.

Presented as a selection of the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, where it had its world premiere in January, All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise follows 500 gay and lesbian families from across the nation aboard Norwegian Dawn chartered by Rosie and Kelli O'Donnell. Thanks to the collaboration of R Family Vacations, HBO, NCL and Comcast, television audiences will have the opportunity to explore the vacation experiences of these compelling families as they share love, compassion and adventure as well as endure prejudices on land.

"NCL is pleased to play such an integral role in a project as original and inventive as this," said Colin Veitch, president and CEO of NCL Corporation. "NCL stands for freedom - and it's not just the freedom of our signature Freestyle Cruising, but also our company philosophy. We want all of our guests to celebrate their individuality and enjoy their vacations the way they choose."

R Family Vacations has chartered Norwegian Star this summer for an Alaska cruise and Norwegian Jewel next winter in the Caribbean.

"All families deserve respect and all families are bound by love. We're all equal," Rosie O'Donnell said. "I think the film shows that the sexual orientation of a parent has nothing to do with the ability to parent."

Norwegian Dawn, purpose-built for Freestyle Cruising, features 10 restaurants, 13 bars and lounges, world-class entertainment options and state-of-the-art amenities. Norwegian Dawn sails from New York to Florida, Bermuda and the Bahamas during the summer and sails extended 10- and 11-day Southern Caribbean itineraries from New York.

Latest Update on Star Princess Fire

diamondprincess.jpg

Star Princess is currently docked in Montego Bay following a fire aboard the ship early this morning as the ship was in transit between Grand Cayman and the Jamaican port as part of a seven-day voyage. The origin of the fire is still unknown, and Princess is cooperating fully with investigators from the U.S. Coast Guard and other regulatory agencies to determine the cause and assess the damage.

We at Princess extend our deepest sympathy to the passengers and their families who were personally affected by the fire, in particular the family of the passenger who passed away, along with those passengers who experienced smoke inhalation injuries. This is the first time such a tragedy has occurred during the history of our company, and we are devastated by this incident. Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the fire.

Following an assessment today of the damaged cabins, we believe the best course of action is to terminate the current cruise in Montego Bay. All passengers currently onboard will be flown home over the next two days, and will receive a full refund of their cruise and air fare. In addition Princess will cover any out-of-pocket travel expenses our passengers may incur for this change of plans. We will also provide passengers with a future cruise credit equal to 25 percent of the cruise fare paid on this voyage.

Passengers in the cabins affected by the fire – which number approximately 100 -- will be provided accommodations at hotels ashore in Montego Bay tonight, and the other passengers will remain on the ship until their flights home over the next two days. The ship is safe and is fully operational and continues to provide passengers with full services.

The following cruise, scheduled to depart Fort Lauderdale on March 26, will also be cancelled. Similarly, passengers booked on this sailing will receive a full refund, the same 25 percent credit towards a future cruise, and Princess will additionally cover out-of-pocket travel expenses as a result of the change.

Over the course of the next few days we will fully assess damage caused by the fire and plan to make the necessary temporary repairs to enable the ship to maintain its onward schedule. A plan for the repairs to the affected cabins will also be drawn up, and passengers booked in those cabins will be advised as soon as possible of our forward plans.

A special number has been set up for inquiries from immediate family of passengers who are currently onboard: 1-800-693-7222.

Cruise Ship Fire On Star Princess

diamondprincess.jpg

MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica Mar 23, 2006 — Fire broke out on a cruise ship in the Caribbean early Thursday, killing one person and injuring 11 others before the crew extinguished the flames, company officials said.

The Star Princess was en route from Grand Cayman to Jamaica when the blaze started in a cabin and spread to others nearby, according to a statement from Princess Cruises, which is owned by Miami-based Carnival Corp.

The ship was carrying 2,690 passengers and 1,123 crew members. Princess Cruises said it was trying to account for all the passengers.

The fire-blackened Star Princess docked in Montego Bay just before noon. No smoke was seen coming from the vessel as rescue personnel boarded. All passengers remained on the ship.

The starboard side of the ship, which faced dockside, showed no damage. But about 70 exterior cabins on the other side appeared to be charred.

Some passengers milled on the decks, but they were too far away from reporters.

Carnival Corp. Chief Financial Officer Gerald Cahill confirmed the fatality and injuries during a conference call. He said at least two of the injured were suffering from smoke inhalation.

The U.S. Coast Guard dispatched investigators and fire engineers to help determine the fire's cause and whether the ship's was seaworthy, Coast Guard Petty Officer James Judge said in Miami. Teams were expected to arrive Thursday afternoon.

"Our No. 1 concern right now is safety," Judge said.

The Jamaica Tourist Board was arranging for the passengers to stay in Montego Bay hotels, said Nadene Newsome, spokeswoman for the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management.

"We haven't found out yet where the fire in the ship started or why it started," Newsome said.

Star Princess sailed from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on March 19.

Associated Press reporter Suzette Laboy in Miami contributed to this report.

Princess Cruises Issued This Report:

Statement on Star Princess
Issued 7:30 am PST

This morning at approximately 3:10 am local time, as Star Princess was en route from Grand Cayman to Montego Bay, a fire broke out in the passenger accommodations, and spread to adjacent cabins.

Passengers were immediately notified of the fire using the public address system and requested to report to their muster stations. We subsequently completed a full check to account for all passengers and crew.

We deeply regret having to confirm that there has been one passenger fatality following a cardiac arrest, two passengers with significant smoke inhalation injuries and nine passengers with minor complications resulting from smoke inhalation. The injured passengers have been stabilized in the ship's medical center.

The fire is fully out, however there is still residual smoke throughout the affected area. The cause of the fire at this time is unknown.

The ship is carrying a total of 2,690 passengers and 1,123 crew members.

A full damage assessment is being carried out now that the ship has arrived in Montego Bay.

Authorities were immediately contacted regarding the incident and we continue to work closely with all relevant parties.

Star Princess sailed from Fort Lauderdale on March 19 on a western Caribbean itinerary with calls at Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Montego Bay and Princess Cays.

A special number has been set up for inquiries from immediate family of passengers who are currently onboard: 1-800-693-7222.

More than Changing a Name, Regent Seven Seas Cruises builds on Acclaim...

The Regent Experience Allows Guests to Live the Luxury With Highly Personalized Enrichment, Customized Service & Finest World-Class Hospitality

New York, NY (March 7, 2006) - In shedding its old name for its new brand identity, Radisson Seven Seas Cruises is not just becoming Regent Seven Seas Cruises, "Our acclaimed cruise line is evolving to a new higher level," said Jay Witzel, president and CEO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide and Carlson Cruises Worldwide.

Sketching out developments over the next 18 months, including the upgrading of suite design, décor, amenities and technology plus the roll out of innovative new product offerings and services, Witzel also laid out the vision in aligning Regent Seven Seas Cruises with Regent Hotels under the unifying theme of The Regent Experience.

But for the new Regent Seven Seas Cruises, he stressed, "some things will not change." Building on the finest accommodations at sea, with the world's only all-balcony suite vessels, intimately small and mid-sized ships, award-winning cuisine, celebrated itineraries to over 300 ports worldwide and an elegant ambience with gracious service guests rave about, "the line is evolving naturally to its next logical step," Witzel noted.

Since its inception in 1992, Radisson Seven Seas has won acclaim in the luxury category as one of the "World's Best Cruise Lines." Having raised the bar on luxury through its ownership of the all-balcony suite concept, and partnerships with famed Le Cordon Bleu® and Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society, the re-branding from Radisson to Regent Seven Seas Cruises "keeps pace with valuable insights gained from guests, prospective affluent travelers and our extensive proprietary research," said Mark Conroy, president of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The Regent Experience
Built around the customer, the Regent Seven Seas brand is focused on imparting personalized experiences. Its new Regent Travel Concierge program will give guests the tools to customize their travel programs based on their personal interests and preferences. Through new partnerships with Travel + Leisure magazine and Fodor's, Regent Seven Seas will offer guests exclusive access to "insider tips" and the latest editorial insights about the worldwide destinations visited by the luxury fleet. Special "à la carte" tour and hotel arrangements can be pre-booked through a dedicated toll-free number, or guests may select from a wide array of exclusive Concierge Collection land adventures - ranging from multi-night overland journeys to ultra-deluxe pre- and post-cruise hotel extensions.

Giving them new flexibility in planning their cruise experiences in advance, guests may also pre-register for a wide range of shore excursions or pre-book dinner reservations in the line's specialty restaurants via its website. Guests confirmed in suites with butler service can email any of their special requests ahead of time.

Another way Regent Seven Seas is empowering its guests - by giving them the ability to select their own customized cruise experiences - is through an expanded Circles of Interest enrichment program, featuring ten exclusive "Circles" on select sailings, with ship and shore activities linked by theme. Guests may enhance itineraries with a tailored program of onboard lectures and workshops combined with specially crafted excursions and events led by guest experts. This enables them to adjust and fine-tune their experiences from place to place while immersing themselves in local cultures and building camaraderie with like-minded guests.

In 2006, they can step into the "Circle" that interests them most through ten "passion points" or lenses: food and wine; performing arts; photography; history, archaeology and literature; the environment and marine life; antiques, jewelry and shopping; active exploration and wellness; art design and museums; families and friends, and romance. Stepping into their own Circle of Interest enables them to shift the personal lens through which they can discover the worlds revealed on every cruise.

"Our guests are seeking unique experiences and access, and are motivated by the opportunity to explore destinations and cultures through their own lens", said Sophie Vlessing, vice president guest strategy and marketing for Regent cruises and hotels. "We have created The Regent Experience in response to insights provided by our guests and other luxury travelers. We are tailoring experiences both on board and on shore, and we will be innovating with new partnerships on an ongoing basis," she added.

NORWEGIAN CRUISE LINE UNVEILS NORWEGIAN PEARL’S HULL ARTWORK

MIAMI, FL (March 15, 2006) – Today at the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Conference in Miami, NCL Corporation (“NCL”) unveiled the colorful hull artwork for its newest build, Norwegian Pearl, now scheduled for early delivery in November 2006.

Norwegian Pearl’s decorative hull artwork will be splashed along both sides of the hull featuring dramatic strands of colorful pearls and streamers running from the bow of the ship almost to the middle of the ship. Pearls naturally come in a wide variety of colors, ranging from creams and roses to greens and golds. The hues on Norwegian Pearl’s hull will showcase a colorful palate including green, plum, cranberry and sapphire blue.

“Each of our ship’s hull artwork expresses the vessel’s individual personality,” said Colin Veitch, NCL’s president and CEO. “With the Norwegian Pearl artwork, we wanted to embody the colorful palette of the ship’s dynamic public rooms and bring it to the outside of the ship.”

As the eighth big, new ship to join the NCL fleet since modernization began in 2000, Norwegian Pearl will feature all the attributes of NCL’s dynamic modern Freestyle Cruising fleet. She features multiple restaurants, vibrant public rooms, versatile, family-friendly accommodations; and NCL’s popular new style of accommodations, Courtyard Villas, which along with each ship’s two Garden Villas, make up the biggest, most luxurious, most innovative suite complexes at sea.

PRIDE OF HAWAI’I CELEBRATES STORY OF AMERICAN MARITIME ICON IN SS UNITED STATES LIBRARY

NCL America Dedicates Onboard Library to United States’ Flagship Vessel

MIAMI, FL (March 8, 2006) - Honoring the fastest ocean liner ever built, NCL America is proud to announce today that the library onboard its newest ship, Pride of Hawai`i will be named the SS UNITED STATES Library. This library will not only be a peaceful, relaxing sanctuary for passengers, it will also pay tribute to the history of this great American beauty, thanks to special assistance from the SS UNITED STATES Conservancy.

"As one of the country's most venerable ships from the glory days of trans-Atlantic sea travel, the SS UNITED STATES was revolutionary, faster and more technologically advanced than anything else afloat at the time,” said Colin Veitch, president and CEO of NCL Corporation. “As the proud owners of the SS UNITED STATES, NCL America is privileged to dedicate a library to this American icon on board our newest and now largest U.S-flagged ship, Pride of Hawai`i.”

The SS UNITED STATES Library will feature original photography, vintage advertisements and original lithographs from renowned marine artists, as well as wall-hanging annotations from Conservancy experts to help educate passengers about the vessel's great significance and her place in maritime history.

"The SS UNITED STATES embodied in one single creation the best of American marine engineering, advanced technology, and artistic style; she was our nation's most visible and best known national symbol in the 1950's and beyond," said Greg Norris, vice president and board member of the SS UNITED STATES Conservancy. "I sailed in the SS UNITED STATES eight times during my youth and have always been in awe of her incredible presence and grandeur.”

"It's truly a pleasure to share my knowledge and experience with NCL America, and I hope the Conservancy and NCL can continue to breathe new life into this American icon,” Norris added.

NCL America welcomes the new Pride of Hawai`i to its U.S. Flagged fleet in April 2006. She’s the largest US flagged passenger ship ever built, and joins Pride of Aloha and Pride of America offering seven-day, inter-island cruises visiting the beautiful 50th state's four main islands. Pride of Hawai`i, departing Honolulu on Mondays, features the line's extremely popular itinerary with a full day in Hilo, Hawai`i; two days in Kahului, Maui; a day in Kona, Hawai`i and two days in Nāwiliwili, Kaua`i.

Purpose built for NCL's signature Freestyle Cruising, Pride of Hawai`i features a vast array of accommodations including two luxurious Garden Villas with their own private gardens and sun decks, 10 Courtyard Villas sharing a private courtyard, pool and sundeck on deck 14, and a spectacular top-of-the-ship Owner's Suite. Princess Adds Another 680-Passenger Ship to Fleet

Princess Adds Another 680-Passenger Ship to Fleet

Vessel to Debut as Royal Princess, Further Expanding Line's Exotic Offerings

Sister Ship to Popular Pacific Princess and Tahitian Princess to Enter Service in Spring 2007

Santa Clarita, CA (March 9, 2006) - Princess Cruises today announced that it will expand its fleet with a sister vessel to the line's popular Tahitian Princess and Pacific Princess. The 680-passenger ship will be named Royal Princess, taking the name of a much-beloved Princess ship which had long been cruising in Europe and other exotic worldwide destinations. Its new successor will take over a similar deployment when she enters service in spring 2007.

The 30,000-ton ship originally entered service in 2001 as a Renaissance vessel (named R8) and is currently cruising as Swan Hellenic's Minerva II. Royal Princess will join its sisters Tahitian Princess and Pacific Princess to give passengers a cruising environment with all the hallmarks of choice for which Princess is known, including a variety of dining and entertainment options and a large number of cabins with private balconies.

"We're delighted to welcome the new Royal Princess to our fleet," said Alan Buckelew, the company's president. "The Princess cruise experience is all about choice, and we're sure this new ship addition will please our passengers who enjoy traveling aboard a smaller vessel to exotic destinations. We're expecting that this ship will rapidly achieve the same loyal passenger following as her sisters Pacific and Tahitian."

Buckelew added that the company's smaller ships nicely complement its fleet of larger vessels, furthering Princess' commitment to providing passengers with exotic itineraries and providing a "boutique version" of the company's Personal Choice Cruising program. This includes a variety of dining experiences such as a 24-hour Lido café and alternative dining venues, and nearly three-quarters of all cabins featuring private balconies.

The ship will begin sailing for Princess in April 2007 after a two week dry dock to make some interior modifications. Her first itineraries will be in Europe with 12-day sailings in the Mediterranean, Holy Land and Black Sea, and details of these cruises will be announced shortly.

"With the addition of Royal Princess, this further modernizes the Princess fleet, which is already one of the youngest in the industry," added Buckelew. "In 2007 our average ship age will be just under six years, and we know that our passengers appreciate the features and amenities we can offer with newer ships."

Carnival to Continue Rusty Wallace Cruise Series in 2006

MIAMI – Carnival Cruise Lines’ and NASCAR Nextel Cup champion Rusty Wallace have teamed up again for another “Rusty Wallace Cruise” -- this time with a seven-day voyage aboard the Carnival Pride in December 2006.

The week-long cruise will operate round trip from Long Beach, Calif., Dec. 3-10, 2006. Featured ports include Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan and Cabo San Lucas.

Carnival’s “Rusty Wallace Cruises” began in 2001 and over the years more than 6,500 racing fans have enjoyed opportunities to meet and interact with the stock car racing legend, who retired from the active circuit late last year.

“Carnival’s ‘Rusty Wallace Cruises’ are among the most popular theme voyages in cruising and we’re delighted that Rusty has agreed to continue the series, this year aboard the Carnival Pride,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

Commented Rusty Wallace, “My affiliation with Carnival has been such a success and I’m very excited to be on board again this year. Although I am out of the Number 2 Miller Lite driver’s seat, my fans have supported new endeavors such as the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona with sponsor Callaway Golf, my Busch series racing team sponsored by Top-Flite Golf and my latest gig as a broadcaster for ABC/ESPN. I really enjoy meeting fans and I hope this upcoming voyage on the Carnival Pride will allow me to give back some of the appreciation they have shown throughout my career.”

The “Rusty Wallace Cruise” aboard the Carnival Pride will feature a number of invitation-only events, including private cocktail receptions the first and last night of the voyage, as well as exclusive question-and-answer and photo sessions.

A variety of prizes and memorabilia, including complimentary race passes and authentic racing shirts autographed by Wallace, will also be available. Several racing-themed contests and giveaways will be held throughout the voyage, as well.

While aboard the Carnival Pride, “Rusty Wallace Cruise” participants can enjoy the ship’s numerous “resort-style” amenities, including a 13,300-square-foot spa, four swimming pools, and dancing and entertainment venues that range from an intimate piano bar to an elegant multi-level theater showcasing lavish Vegas-style revues.

Dining options include a two-level main dining room, a casual poolside eatery featuring a 24-hour pizzeria, and an upscale reservations-only supper club offering prime steaks and other gourmet cuisine.

Carnival Pride also features expansive indoor and outdoor play areas and a full activities schedule for kids ages 2-14, all part of the line’s top-rated “Camp Carnival” program. A teen program with activities geared toward older kids is also available.

Also featured is a comprehensive golf program offering professional instruction both aboard ship and during golf excursions.

Eighty percent of the Carnival Pride’s staterooms offer an ocean view with 80 percent of those featuring private balconies.

Reservations are currently being accepted for the “Rusty Wallace Cruise” aboard the Carnival Pride. Prices begin at $599 per person based on double occupancy. Special rates for third and fourth guests sailing in the same stateroom, along with round-trip air transportation from more than 170 North American gateways, are also available.

Participants must reference fare code CPRW when making a reservation to be eligible for the invitation-only events taking place on this voyage.

Variety of New Features Added To Carnival Cruise Lines' Internet Offerings

diamondprincess.jpg

VARIETY OF NEW FEATURES ADDED TO CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES’ INTERNET OFFERINGS

Highlights Include Redesigned Carnival.com Web Site,
Innovative New ‘CarnivalConnections.com’ Social Networking/Group Planning Tool

MIAMI (Jan. 24, 2006) – Carnival Cruise Lines has introduced a variety of enhancements to its Internet offerings, revamping its popular carnival.com Web site and launching an innovative new social networking/group planning tool, “CarnivalConnections.com” – the first site of its kind in the cruise industry.

“The Internet has become an indispensable tool for vacation research and planning, used by millions of people each day. The updated carnival.com site delivers enhanced functionality and more comprehensive overview of the ‘Fun Ship’ vacation experience. ‘CarnivalConnections.com’ enables guests to build lasting vacation memories with their family and friends and stay connected to fellow ‘Fun Ship’ enthusiasts using an innovative new social networking/group planning technology,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

Redesigned carnival.com
A host of new and expanded features have been incorporated into the revamped carnival.com site, including an interactive destination map, destination “virtual tours,” guest video testimonials, and a “close-to-home” cruise locator, along with a new “look and feel” mirroring the line’s current advertising campaign.

The new destination “virtual tours” offer viewers an opportunity to get an “up close and personal” look at the many sites and attractions available at a variety of Caribbean, Mexican and Bahamian ports. With this helpful tool, guests can even preview select shore excursions offered in a specific region.

There’s also a new interactive destination map where, with just a simple click of a button, visitors can navigate directly to various sub-regions and further explore the dozens of different itineraries featured on Carnival’s three- to 16-day cruises.

Also new are video testimonials from guests who offer their opinions about their Carnival vacation experience, while a new “close-to-home” cruising page provides detailed information on the line’s embarkation ports, including 18 in North America and one in Italy.

The site also reflects the mosaic theme currently employed in Carnival’s current “Million Moments of Fun” print advertising campaign, which depicts different aspects of a “Fun Ship” vacation with dramatic illustrations composed of thousands of smaller images.

Rounding out the Web site enhancements are new photographs and content, along with easier-to-view deck plans of the “Fun Ship” fleet. Future plans include an enhanced meeting and incentive group planning section.

New ‘CarnivalConnections.com’ On-Line Community
“CarnivalConnections.com,” the line’s new on-line community, was specifically created to bring family and friends together by helping them plan and manage their “Fun Ship” cruise. Using an innovative electronic invitation tool and insightful guest-written message boards and cruise reviews, the site provides users with a variety of helpful resources to select the “Fun Ship” vacation that matches their interests and lifestyles.

Taking its cue from the recent trend of “togethering” – in which families and friends partake in fun, memorable activities to bring them closer together – the site’s customized “e-vites” can be tailored for family reunions, “girlfriend getaways,” and a host of other groups.

To use the interactive “e-vite” tool, the group coordinator simply selects the cruise of their choice – including ship name, departure point, cruise duration and itinerary – and then forwards the information via e-mail to friends and family members.

Recipients can then respond with an RSVP or provide feedback on the cruise through private message boards. Members of the group can even “vote” or answer poll questions on the different aspects of the voyage.

The site’s interactive features can also be used by travel agents as an electronic group marketing tool to attract or retain their client base.

“CarnivalConnections.com” also features real-time message boards where registered users can ask questions, post responses and offer feedback about a past or future “Fun Ship” cruise to other on-line community members. There’s also a section where users can post longer length ship reviews containing detailed information on their recent Carnival vacation.

Carnival has worked in collaboration with Avenue A | Razorfish, the largest interactive marketing services and technology firm, since 2001 on its various Web site initiatives.

Carnival is the largest and most popular cruise line in the world, with a fleet of 21 “Fun Ships” operating three- to 16-day voyages to the Bahamas, Caribbean, Mexican Riviera, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, New England, Bermuda and Europe.

The line will expand its fleet with the launch of three new SuperLiners – the 110,000-ton Carnival Freedom in February 2007 and an as-yet-unnamed 112,000-ton vessel and an as-yet-unnamed 130,000-ton ship – the largest “Fun Ship” ever constructed – in spring 2008 and fall 2009, respectively.
