Crystal Cruises Receives Ninth Consecutive World's Best Award From Readers Of Condé Nast Traveler; Luxury Line Achieves Personal Best With Its Highest-Ever Score!

LOS ANGELES - For an unprecedented ninth year in a row, Crystal Cruises has been named "World's Best Large-Ship Cruise Line" in the coveted Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards marking nearly a decade of continued excellence from the innovative cruise line. Crystal's overall score of 94.6 is the company's highest-ever rating.

"We are honored to be at the forefront of our industry and remain steadfast in our commitment to provide a luxury vacation that continuously excites and rewards our sophisticated guests," says Crystal President Gregg L. Michel. "Each year we continue to innovate, to introduce new onboard programs, and to differentiate the Crystal experience. Nine consecutive years as the world's best large-ship cruise line speaks to the consistency and stature of a Crystal vacation."

Crystal's winning formula of delivering the best service, space, quality and choices has earned it an enviable reputation among savvy travelers and industry experts worldwide. The line invests a significant amount of time and resources to evolving the Crystal experience, with shipboard and shoreside employees embracing the company's Six-Star Crystal Basics, a multi-point credo for anticipating and fulfilling guests' needs.

"This recognition also credits our dedicated staff for their unfaltering talent and creativity," continues Michel. "It is gratifying that their efforts and choices have been recognized by the readership of Condé Nast Traveler magazine."

For the last 17 years, the Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice Awards have been considered among the highest honors in the travel industry, celebrating the best-of-the-best hotels, airlines, resorts, cruise lines, cities, rental car companies and islands as voted by the well-traveled readers of Condé Nast Traveler. Tabulated from over 20,000 votes, the results are pulled from the largest independent poll of consumers preferences, second only to the US Census.

Large-ship cruise line (vessels carrying 500 or more passengers) scores are percentages based on the "excellent" and "very good" votes from the subscribers in the categories of itineraries, crew/service, food/dining, cabins/design, and events/activities.

Former Friend's TV star Paul Rudd presented Michel with Crystal's "World's Best" award at a celebrity-filled gala affair in New York City on October 7th. Among the other celebrity travelers unveiling the triumphant world's best winners were Christy Brinkley, Glenn Close, Angela Bassett and Bernadette Peters. A complete list of the 2004 Readers' Choice Awards appears in Condé Nast Traveler's November 2004 issue.

This year, the luxury line also became a nine-time consecutive recipient of Travel + Leisure magazine's World's Best Large Ship Award, and it continues to earn the highest accolades from noted travel magazines and guidebooks.

Crystal's three sister ships - the 940-guest, 50,000-ton Crystal Harmony and Crystal Symphony and the 1,080-guest, 68,000-ton Crystal Serenity - are among the most luxurious vessels cruising the world. Their unique size in the luxury market allows for exceptional service, space, choice and quality with generous amenities and elegant accommodations.

The Six-Star rated liners feature grand lounges, a lavish spa outfitted in accordance with the principles of Feng Shui, extensive exercise facilities, complimentary golf, yoga and Pilates instruction, Asian and Italian specialty restaurants, the only Caesars Palace at Sea Casino afloat, and the popular Computer University@Sea, offering 24-hour e-mail and internet access, as well as hands-on instruction, expansive decks, two pools, award-winning cuisine and entertainment, and exquisitely appointed staterooms, more than half of which offer private verandahs.

Crystal Cruises New Onboard Wine

Crystal Cruises Debuts C Wines As New Proprietary Label For Crystal Cruises
Award-Winning Cruise Line is First in Luxury Market to Produce Exclusive Label

diamondprincess.jpg

LOS ANGELES - Building on its reputation for excellence and innovation in the culinary arts, luxury cruise specialist Crystal Cruises has created its own proprietary label called C Wines. Debuting aboard the line's fleet of three award-winning, luxury ships this month, C Wines features six new appellations including three reserve and three premium selections of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Merlot.

Under the direction and guidance of Crystal's executive food and beverage team and its expert sommeliers, C Wines are produced to exacting specifications in the vineyards of California's legendary Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Arroyo Seco, and Santa Lucia Highlands. Carefully made in limited production to ensure quality, Crystal's first order of C Wines will deliver 54,500 bottles to Crystal Harmony, Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity. C Wines will be offered by the glass or by the bottle, and will be showcased on the line's already impressive wine list.

"The creation of C Wines has been a labor of love among our sommeliers and executive hotel staff for the last year. These vintages represent the ultimate culmination of our collective passion for and knowledge of wine that will surely appeal to the senses of sophisticated aficionados, as well as complement our cuisine," says Toni Neumeister, Crystal's vice president of food and beverage operations.

After extensive research, Crystal tapped the Monterey Wine Company, widely regarded for its consistency and reliability in producing quality wines, to manage the growing and production of C Wines. With state-of-the-art winemaking facilities throughout California's prime wine regions, the celebrated company's advanced technologies allow for continual testing and experimentation ensuring only the best grapes are bottled.

The Monterey Wine Company is led by a team of experienced winery professionals representing more than 85 years of growing, making and/or managing vineyards with distinguished labels such as Caymus, Domaine Chandon, Joseph Phelps and Kendall-Jackson, among others.

Recognizing the depth of commitment among Crystal's sommeliers to C Wines, Vineyard Manager Steve McIntyre comments, "The sommeliers wanted to know exactly which vineyard blocks produced the flavors they were looking for, and how to harvest those vines for richer flavors."

In directing the winemaking, the sommeliers endeavored to preserve the rich, complex flavors of the grapes, and selected the most superior lots to create the reserves such as the C Reserve Merlot, Napa Valley 2003, which is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. The grapes for the C 2003 Chardonnay, California, were grown in premium vineyards esteemed for producing fruit with lively, rich flavors.

Eric Laumann, director of production for Monterey Wine Company, observes, "I was impressed with the care that the Crystal team exhibited, thinking about their customers, considering only the wines that would best accompany the cuisine served at the various restaurants on board."

The six propriety labels include three C-Reserve wines - 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley; 2002 Merlot, Napa Valley; and 2003 Chardonnay, Arroyo Seco/Santa Lucia Highlands; and three C-Premium vintages - 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon, California; 2003 Chardonnay, California; and 2003 Merlot, California.

C Winesis the latest evolution of Crystal Cruises' sophisticated culinary program which includes its highly regarded Crystal Wine & Food Festival, now in its eighth year, and its Wine & Champagne Makers Dinners, the first such concept to be offered at sea.

The line continues on its worldwide journey to advance the culinary arts, leading the cruise industry by forming innovative alliances with some of the world's most celebrated names in food, wine and hospitality including menus designed by Nobu Matsuhisa and signature dishes from Wolfgang Puck's Chinois on Main. Now in its third year, the luxury line also hosts the Best Young Chefs of Italy, a collaborative effort with long-time partner Piero Selvaggio, proprietor of the acclaimed Valentino restaurants.

Crystal Cruises has won the travel industry's most distinguished hospitality awards and guidebook ratings, including the best large-ship cruise line award in the most recent readers' surveys conducted by Condé Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure magazines.

Baja Mexico

Wet, Wild And Woolly
Unbelievable Encounters In Baja And Beyond!

You may not believe it, but it's true. There is a place only 22 miles from Los Angeles with almost as many buffalo as automobiles. There is a hidden cave on the Gold Coast that spouts water 80 feet into the air. And yes, there is a way to feel like a new you in less than a week. Hard to imagine? Take a 4-night Baja Mexico cruise vacation and we'll make you a believer.

Your transformation begins aboard Monarch of the Seas in Los Angeles. From there, you'll stop in San Diego, CA and then sail straight to beautiful Santa Catalina Island.

Not your ordinary island, three-quarters of Catalina is undeveloped. But the surrounding waters of this Mediterranean-esque island are generously populated. Snorkel, five, or hop in a semisubmersible. However you choose to do it, get in the water. There's a colourful case of characters to spot. Giant purple sea urchins, black-eyed gobies, bright yellow garibaldi, and the list goes on and on.

Prefer dry land? Take a Catalina Inland Motor Tour. The island's heartland is a 42,000-acre nature preserve, overflowing with wildlife and flora. And no, you haven't been sitting in the sun too long. Those are actual buffalo roaming the valleys. Brought to Catalina in 1924 for the filming of "The Vanishing American", a herd of about 200 happily inhabit the island today.

From Catalina you'll sail on to Ensenada, Mexico. With its rugged mountains and beautiful soft-sand beaches, you'll have an array of activities to choose from. But if you're feeling extra curious, tour the countryside and uncover the buzz about bajacaliforniano wine. It just so happens that this region produces a number of world-class wintages. So, pay homage to a few vineyards and taste 'til your heart's content. And while you're there, stop by the famous La Bufadora, the world's second-highest marine geyser. With its spouting sprays and tremendous sounds, it's certainly something to experience.

The wonders of a Baja cruise vacation are so amazing you'll want more than a second glance. You'll want a second trip.

The first two varietals, a 2002 Russian River Valley Chardonnay and a 2001 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon, will be available onboard every ship in the fleet this month, with additional products scheduled to follow shortly.

Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises are pleased to report that our ships in the Caribbean are again sailing on calm seas in and warm, sunny weather. Should tropical weather conditions change and begin to affect our ships, we will immediately resume updates to our web site.

Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises are currently unable to bring ships to Coco Cay, Bahamas, our private island. Storm-related repairs are ongoing and should be complete in the coming weeks. In addition, storm recovery efforts in Freeport, Bahamas, and Georgetown, Cayman Islands, prevent us from visiting those ports as well. We look forward to returning to these locations in the very near future. Ships scheduled to make port calls at these locations in the coming weeks will make alternative port calls or spend the day at sea.

We??d like to thank our guests for using our web site to learn about itinerary modifications resulting from recent tropical weather. By doing so, you allowed our staff more time to help others requiring special assistance.
