Hyatt At Olive 8 Hotel Seattle, WA Review

Hyatt at Olive 8 Hotel Seattle, WA
2 night stay August 2009

I purchased a 2 night stay through Hyatt.com pre-paying for the room. All requests were done immediately and I got a confirmation email with my requests within minutes of booking. A few days after booking I received an email from the concierge asking if I had any additional requests. I did not, but I appreciated the thought and attention to detail.

We checked in early afternoon. There was a short wait, but all the staff were young and friendly. My intial thoughts of the lobby were WOW. It is simple, modern decor and the rooms are even better!

We booked a Deluxe King Room with city view. The room was very large. You walk into a hall with the bathroom immediately on the left. There is a wardrobe on the right as you walk into the room with bathrobes, iron, ironing board and safe. Take a look at the picture below.

Here is how Hyatt describes the room:
Featuring state-of-the-art sophistication blended with sustainable resources, we welcome you to the first LEED Certified hotel in Seattle. The contemporary décor offers a soothing color palette and energy efficient fixtures. All guest rooms are equipped with Watt Stopper master power controls for lighting to conserve electricity. Additionally, the hotel's green housekeeping programs utilize cleaning materials and chemicals that are environmentally friendly.

Deluxe King rooms feature one Hyatt Grand Bed, fitted with plush pillows, soft sheeting and down blankets piled atop irresistible pillow-topped mattresses. The bathroom features a glass walk-in shower, with Bricor® water-reducing showerheads that conserve water without compromising water pressure, Toto dual flush toilet and Portico bath products.

Enjoy a 37-inch flat-panel TV, iHome clock radio with iPod® docking station, wired and wireless Internet access (for a fee) and expanded workstations with oversized desks. Read a complimentary daily newspaper as you enjoy something coffee or tea. Take advantage of every luxurious service and amenity offered in our new downtown Seattle hotel.

Amenities: Hyatt Grand Bed, 37" Flat panel television, iHome clock radio with iPod docking station, Glass walk-in shower, Generous work desk, Hairdryer, Iron and ironing board, Energy efficient fixtures, Wireless high-speed Internet access for a fee, Complimentary daily newspaper, Portico bath products, In-room coffee and tea maker, Refrigerator, Lounge chair.

I was most impressed with the bathroom. It was very large and offered two sinks and a large glass shower. The complimentary bathroom amenities were very nice too.

The location of the Hyatt at Olive 8 is ideal. It's located just steps from Pike Street on 8th Avenue. Pike Street is where you'll find shopping and restaurants all within 2 blocks. One block away is also the Paramount Theater.

The only disappointment I had with the hotel was the coffee bar in the lobby. It is called Urbane Coffee & Wine Bar. My husband and I went here to have a light breakfast the first morning and did not return. The staff was uninterested in helping us, the coffee was WAY to strong and as we were sitting trying to enjoy breakfast all I could hear was the staff chatting about their lives. Seattle is know for it's coffee so walk a block to Starbucks or Seattle's Best Coffee to have a better experience!

I have visited Seattle many times and will return in the future. I highly recommend this hotel and I plan on staying here again soon!
