MSC CRUISES ADDS HOCKEY LEGEND, SCOTTY BOWMAN, TO JANUARY 13, 2005 PANAMA CANAL SAILING

TORONTO (NOVEMBER 23, 2004) - MSC Cruises, represented exclusively in Canada by Encore Cruises, has announced that famed NHL hockey coach, Scotty Bowman, will be on board MSC Lirica's 11-night Panama Canal sailing January 13, 2005. Guests will have an opportunity to attend a talk and autograph session with Bowman during the cruise.

As Coach and General Manager in the late 1960's he led expansion team, St. Louis Blues, to the Stanley Cup finals for three consecutive years. In 1971 he joined the mighty Montreal Canadiens leading his Hall of Fame team (including Guy Lafleur and Larry Robinson) to five Stanley Cups during the 1970's. He was 8 seasons with the Buffalo Sabres as Coach, GM and Director of Player-Personnel, and in 1990-91 was Director of Player Personnel for the Pittsburgh Penguins, helping propel them to their first Stanley Cup in 1991. In 1992, due to the illness of Head Coach Bob Johnson, he stepped behind the bench to lead Pittsburgh to an emotional second Stanley Cup championship. In 1993, Bowman joined the Detroit Red Wings and masterminded a rebuilding of the team, giving the city their first Stanley Cup in 42 years. They repeated as champions in 1998 and Bowman won his ninth and final Stanley Cup in 2002. With this record, he is arguably the greatest ice hockey coach in history, and certainl y the "winningest&qu ot; with 9 Stanley Cups and a record of 1244-583-314. Bowman was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1991 and into the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.

MSC Lirica's January 13/05 Panama Canal sails from Ft. Lauderdale and includes 4 days at sea and stops at Costa Maya, Mexico; Puerto Limon, Costa Rica; the Panama Canal; Panama's San Blas Islands; Cartagena, Colombia and Ocho Rios in Jamaica before returning to Ft. Lauderdale.
