Line‚??s Rapid Rise to Prominence Featured in Seatrade Supplement
FORT LAUDERDALE , FL (Oct. 19, 2004)

The rapid rise to prominence of MSC Cruises has made big news across the globe and will be the subject of a special supplement to the December issue of the cruise industry‚??s most prominent international publication, ‚??Seatrade Cruise Review.‚?Ě The Seatrade Organization has also established a separate news page on its Cruise Insider Web site for the growing list of news stories about MSC Cruises.

The publication of the ‚??Seatrade Cruise Review‚?Ě supplement will coincide with the arrival of the line‚??s flagship MSC Opera in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where it will be greeted by Sophia Loren. The legendary actress, who epitomizes Italian beauty and style, is godmother of the MSC Opera and its sister ship, the MSC Lirica, and christened both ships.

In the past year, the Naples, Italy, based company has launched a $3 billion expansion program to establish its position as the leading cruise company offering vacationers ‚??Premium Class with a True Italian Signature.‚?Ě The line has added four ships to its fleet, including two newbuilds; has established a new North American office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with a top-notch management team headed by Richard E. Sasso; launched aggressive sales and marketing campaigns; and has ordered two new 90,000 registered ton cruise ships for delivery in 2006 and 2007.

‚??These are exciting times for all of us at MSC Cruises,‚?Ě noted Sasso. ‚??Having Sophia Loren here in Fort Lauderdale for the arrival of the MSC Opera will cap an incredible year. Since opening our Florida offices, MSC Cruises has staked out a strong position as an innovative leader in the North American premium cruise market with the development of our ‚??True Partnerships‚?? program for travel agents, a groundbreaking loyalty program for our guests and their travel agents that will be launched next month, exciting new itineraries and onboard programs and, of course, beautiful new ships.‚?Ě

MSC Cruises has grown from a fleet of three ships in 2002 to four in 2003, and seven in 2004. The fleet now includes joins MSC Opera, which was inaugurated June 26 in Genoa; MSC Sinfonia, purchased in July 2004; MSC Armonia, purchased in April 2004; MSC Lirica, launched in 2003; as well as MSC Melody, MSC Monterey, and MSC Rhapsody.
