MSC OPERA: MEDITERRANEAN LEADERSHIP IN THE 2005 BERLITZ GUIDE CLASSIFICATION

FOUR STARS MAKE THE MSC CROCIERE FLEET SHINE. FOUR SHIPS GET THE AUTHORITATIVE GUIDE’S HIGHEST MARKS

Four ships of the MSC Crociere fleet clinched 4 stars in the ranking of the prestigious Ocean Cruising & Cruise Ships 2005 Guide published by Berlitz.

MSC Opera, the new MSC Crociere flagship christened in June 2004, took four stars in the classification of the prestigious guide. The new standard-bearer of the Italian-style cruise line, following hot on the heels of its sister ships MSC Lirica and MSC Armonia, won the leadership position among all ships regularly operating in the Mediterranean with departures from Italy, surpassing its major competitors in the ranking.

This is an outstanding result for the new ship of the MSC Crociere fleet. It took over the leadership role in its market of reference in less than a year from the time it entered service. The excellent placing in the Berlitz Guide classification of MSC Opera, MSC Lirica and even MSC Armonia – acquired last year by MSC and brought up to the fleet’s high standards of quality within a few months’ time – is also tacit proof of the value of the MSC Crociere product acknowledged on an international level. The company is strengthening its leadership position in the Mediterranean market year after year not only with the continuous attention it devotes to improving and developing its offer, but also with its fleet’s progressive growth. MSC Sinfonia, already included in the Berlitz classification and awarded 4 stars, will be christened in March 2005, and MSC Musica will be inaugurated in 2006.

The Berlitz guidebook, which this year is celebrating its 20th anniversary, is the most authoritative “snapshot” of the world cruise scene. Approximately 250 ships are examined every year. The assessment, which is made by awarding up to 2,000 points, takes into account parameters such as the ship’s characteristics, the comfort of its cabins, the quality of its food, its level of service, the variety of entertainment offered, and the choice of itineraries and excursions.

The 4 stars awarded to MSC Opera, MSC Lirica, MSC Armonia and MSC Sinfonia testifies to the fact that MSC Crociere’s growth process is constantly carried forward dictated by its commitment to quality. Today MSC Crociere is well-known and identified the world over as the only Italian cruise line able to meet the needs of whoever truly wants to “travel Italian-style”.

MSC Crociere has a fleet of seven ships: MSC Sinfonia (coming into operation in March 2005), MSC Opera, MSC Armonia, MSC Lirica, MSC Melody, MSC Rhapsody and MSC Monterey. The fleet will grow to nine ships by 2007. MSC Crociere offers itineraries in the Mediterranean Sea, Northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean, South America and South Africa. MSC Crociere is the largest cruise company backed by only Italian capital. With MSC, Italy travels with you…
